EN 1657-Fungicidal or yeasticidal activity in veterinary area.UNE-EN 1657: 2016. Chemical disinfectants and antiseptics. Quantitative suspension test for the evaluation of fungicidal or yeasticidal activity of chemical disinfectants and antiseptics used in the veterinary area. Test method and requirements (phase 2, step 1).
Test accredited by ENAC (National Accreditation Entity).
The test organisms used as mandatory are Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger (syn. Aspergillus brasiliensis) for fungicidal activity and Candida albicans for yeasticidal activity. Other fungi may optionally be used. The test should be performed at a mandatory temperature of 10ºC and for a mandatory time of 30 minutes. Furthermore, it can be done with optional additional temperatures of 4, 20 or 40ºC and optional additional times for 1, 5, 15 or 60 minutes. The test can be performed under simulated conditions of low-level or high-level dirty conditions. The product should be tested at least at three concentrations including one in the non-active interval and another in the active interval. The product can be assayed by the dilution-neutralization method or by the membrane filtration method. To consider the fungicidal product must demonstrate a log reduction of 4 in the number of viable cells.
