EN 14349: 2013Quantitative surface test for the evaluation of bacterial activity of chemical disinfectants and antiseptics used in veterinary area on non-porous surfaces without mechanical action. Test method and requirements (phase 2, step 2).

Test accredited by ENAC (Spanish National Accreditation Entity), for standard mandatory microorganisms and additionals.

The test use four bacteria as mandatory organisms to determine the bactericidal activity (Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus vulgaris, Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus hirae). Additional bacteria for specific applications can also be used. The test should be performed at a temperature of 10ºC and a mandatory time of 30 minutes. For bactericidal activity optional additional temperatures of 4ºC and optional additional times of 1, 5, and 60 minutes can be used. The test can be performed under simulated conditions of low level or high level dirty conditions. The product should be tested at least at three concentrations including one in the non-active interval and another in the active interval. The product is tested on stainless steel discs and bacterial viability by the dilution-neutralization method is evaluated. To consider the product as bactericidal must demonstrate a log reduction of 4 in the number of viable bacteria.
