EN 1275: 2007. Quantitative suspension test for the evaluation of basic fungicidal or basic yeasticidal activity of chemical disinfectants and antiseptics. Test method and requirements (phase 1).

Test accredited by ENAC (Spanish National Accreditation Entity).

This test uses as mandatory organisms for the fungicidal activity Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger, and for the yeasticidal activity Candida albicans. The test must be performed at a mandatory temperature of 20ºC and during a mandatory time of 15 minutes. Besides, additional temperatures of 4, 20 or 40ºC, and during additional times of 1, 5, 30 or 60 minutes. The product must be assayed at least at three concentrations including one in the non-active range and other in the active range with a geometric descendant progression with a factor of 2 at least with each dilution with respect to the previous dilution. This test is intended for evaluating basic fungicidal/yeasticidal activity, hence no interfering substance is required to be included. The test can be performed by the dilution-neutralization or by the membrane filtration method. To consider a product as fungicidal it must show a reduction of 4 logarithms in the number of viable fungal cell counts.
