EN 13704: 2019. Quantitative suspension assay for the evaluation of sporicidal activity of chemical disinfectants used in food, industrial, domestic and in the community areas. Method of assay and requirements - phase 2, Step 1).
Test accredited by ENAC (Spanish National Accreditation Entity), for standard mandatory microorganisms and additionals, including BPR requirements.
This test uses as obligate microorganism Bacillus subtilis spores (sporicidal activity for general purposes) and as additional or optional, if required for certain applications or products, Bacillus cereus (additional sporicidal activity against aerobes for specific uses) and Clostridium sporogenes (additional sporicidal activity against anaerobes for specific uses). The test must be performed at a mandatory temperature between 4ºC and 75ºC and for a contact time between 1 and 60 minutes (in this range only are allowed contact times of 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55 and 60 minutes). The test can be performed under clean conditions (0.3g/L bovine serumalbumin) or under dirty conditions (3.0 g/L bovine serum albumin). Furthermore, the standard includes and additional interfering substance for dairies (10 g/L of reconstituted milk. The product must be tested at least at three concentrations, including one concentration in the non-active range and another in the active range These two concentrations are selected by the laboratory performing the test. The product can be tested following the dilution-neutralization method or by the membrane filtration method. To consider the product as sporicidal a logarithmic reduction of 3 in the number of viable spores count, must be obtained.
