EN 13623: 2021. Chemical disinfectants and antiseptics. Quantitative suspension test for evaluation of bactericidal activity against Legionella for aqueous systems (phase 2, step 1).

Test accredited by ENAC Spanish National Accreditation Entity).

This test uses Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 as mandatory organism. The test must be performed at a mandatory temperature of 30°C and for a time of 60 minutes for quick-acting products (oxidizing biocides) or 24 hours for slow-acting products (non-oxidizing biocides). The test is always performed in the presence of interfering substances of an organic nature. The product must be tested for at least three concentrations including one in the non-active range and one in the active range. The use for which the product is intended must be indicated because a type of diluent should be used in the test depending on the use of the product. The dilution-neutralization or the filtration method may be used. To consider the product as bactericidal for Legionella, a log reduction of 4 or more in the number of viable cells must be obtained.
